Our Business Is Transitioning!
We're retiring CoyoteCo!  We're transitioning our business to focus on Video and Photo development and licensing.  CoyoteCo Performance Sea Kayaking will cease to exist as such, and this site will eventually close, or change to become a video and photo gallery.  We're in the process of bringing up a site for our new business entity, Sneaker Wave Imaging. We'll be creating new photo libraries and video libraries to highlight our new focus on the development of promotional video products, the sale and licensing of our video and photographic images, and the development of our Sea Kayaking DVD series.  Look for us soon at:
          www.SneakerWaveImaging.Com

We'll no longer be offering the CoyoteCo Sea Kayaking Training Programs on a regular basis.  We will, however, consider those seeking concentrated training with a goal to develop advanced kayaking skillson a case by case basis. We are still looking for new paddling buddies to join our paddling gang, the Oceanic Waterborne Irregulars (OWI).  If you're an accomplished or aspiring kayaker with some open water or rough water experience, give us a jingle and we'll chat.  There are plenty of opportunities to learn and gain experience with our group, and I will still be coaching (on a no-fee basis) during our paddling adventures.

Previous Updates
We've updated our site with new photos and video clips in our photos and video galleries.  Most of these image updates are from our summer '05 coastal paddling adventures during our shooting sessions for the upcoming release of our first DVD, "Sea Kayaking the North Oregon Coast".  Photo additions include Tillamook Head, Indian Beach, Ecola Point Rocks, Cape Falcon, Cape Mears, Three Arch Rocks, Cape Lookout, and the Salmon River bar at Cascade Head.  We have some video clips added from some adventures out at Three Arch Rocks.  More video clips will be added over time.  So check back, or drop us a line to find out when our next updates will be.

We've updated the information on our various video projects in our Video Productions page.  Plus we've added info on our video services to our Other Services page.  We've also made updates to our Calendar page, listing all our current scheduled obligations, and of course we've added the latest news bits right here.

We've also posted some updated information on rate changes necessitated by skyrocketing fuel coasts on our "Rates" page), and on new photo and video licensing services in our "Other Services" page.

Sponsor News!
Kokatat Sports Wear,
first official sponsor,  has resigned as an official sponsor of CoyoteCo Video Productions!  In exchange for their generous contribution of new gear, we are continuing to feature links to the Kokatat web site on our CoyoteCo web site pages, and we'll be shooting some product-showcasing photos for the Kokatat web site over the next months.  Our video products releases will also include credits to Kokatat and our other sponsors who have contributed to our production efforts.  Visit them at www.Kokatak.Com.

onOne Software has just signed on as a sponsor, providing us with some excellent digital image enhancement software that we've been using on the photos we include in our DVD productions.  It's great stuff!  They have image scaling technology that lets you magnify your images well beyond the normal range, were things usually get way too chunky to be usable, and the results are wonderful!  You can actually get great poster-size images from a typical 4 megapixel digital image! Check them out at www.onOneSoftware.com !

iWindsurf, providers of an excellent wind forecasting tool, particularly for the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon coast, continues to provide us with great forecasting tools.  Take a look at iWindsurf.com.

We're looking for additional sponsors to help us with production, manufacturing, and distribution costs, as well as music acquisition fees.  If you know of any kayaking-oriented companies that might like some visibility by helping us with our project, please be sure to let us know!

Video Production Updates
Over the past two years now the focus here at CoyoteCo has moving toward a serious effort to develop a series of DVD video products.  We spent last summer filming various paddling venues along the North Oregon Coast, and have now entered the post-production phase of the project! We expect the first project to wrap and go into distribution in mid 2006.  We'll have the DVD available here, on the CoyoteCo web site, through various kayaking and sporting goods shops and magazines, and through a number of crafts and curios shops on the coast.  We'll have more details as we get close to release!

Meanwhile, our efforts this past winter to develop a DVD featuring winter storm paddling in the Columbia River Gorge have once again been thwarted by a season of lack-luster winds.  The typical winter easterlies just didn't get up to the near-hurricane forces we've been looking for for this project.  We did manage to get a bit of taping and photography on the shelf, but nowhere near enough to make a movie.  So we're going to have to put this project on hold again until next winter, and hope that climate changes haven't put this wonder of nature to rest for good!  Rest assured, we'll be waiting with cameras and crew ready next Winter.  From Mid December to Early March, we'll be out in the Upper and Lower Columbia River Gorge paddling and filming as east winds blow and temperatures drop near and below freezing!  We've been out in the past with winds in excess of 60mph, and we're hoping for some howlers this year!  We intended to do this DVD project last year, but El Niņo (or maybe it was global warming) killed the east winds.  It barely blew all Winter!  With this past Winter being a near copy of last year, we're simply crushed at having to wait once again.  But we will get this project completed, if Mother Nature will just bring us those blessed icy winds next Winter.

We welcome anyone with coastal paddling skills that would like to join our excursions and be an "actor" in our videos!  Just give us a call.  We'll be spending some days surfing our favorite and new beach spots, and other days paddling through rock gardens and around the headlands and capes and through the caves that litter the Oregon Coast.  We'll be taking several road trips too, to explore new paddling venues and video along the southern Oregon coast.  Give us a call or drop us an email if you'd like to join in and be a star!

Fuel Surcharge Necessitated
Because of the sustained rise in fuel costs over the past years, and especially of late, we've been forced to add a fuel surcharge to our fees.  For classes or events that require travel in excess of 25 miles, we'll be charging 15 cents per mile to cover our fuel expenses.  This rate is determined by the current cost for gasoline and the average mileage delivered by our trusty Outback, Bob. This means a lesson in the Gorge will carry a surcharge of about $15.  Most coastal classes will carry a $30 surcharge. There is no profit in this surcharge.  In fact, it usually doesn't fully cover our fuel costs.  It is intended merely to offset the additional expenses we incur from the increased cost of traveling to our lesson venues. The rate are adjusted periodically according to changes in fuel prices.

In-Field Video Feedback

We've been providing video feedback for the past few years, taping students performing rolling or paddling drills, then reviewing the tapes after the session.  We have in-the-field video playback capability, with a color monitor that runs off Bob's electrical system,  so you get instant feedback and instant evidence of your progress.  There's no fee for video feedback since we can do this as part of the session.  We only charge an extra fee if you want an separate session for an extensive evaluation of the tapes, or to have your video made into a custom DVD.  We've added two helmet camera systems to our inventory, so we can tape anything, anywhere!
